Bob E,

Thank you for taking the time to share with us this summary of your conference --- it made me wish I had been an attendee!!!   :uthebest:

I will be praying in agreement with you and your wife for those who attended to embrace their freedom and for the freedom of your message to spread like wild fire.   :yesss:

Dawn
Hey Dawn,

Is there a review of your book on these forums?  I'd like to hear more about it, and about what led you to write it. ^_^

I finally found the summary of my book buried under years of great topics and book reviews.

http://equalitycentral.com/forum/index.php?topic=247.0

Reviews for my book are posted on amazon,  CBD (Christian Book Distributors) and my website.

My book is written on the "entry level" to the topic of egalitarianism.   While writing it I felt that I was to focus on the woman "peeking" into her equality in Christ - the woman quaking with fear as she stands at the edge of the ocean and trying to decide "if" she will stick her toes into the waters of equality.

It is written for the woman seeking "Scriptural permission" to fully use her gifts and calls in serving God - every chapter ends with an encouragement for women to put their God given gifts to use.    It is written for the woman who hears God's call to His service and is seeking for the answer to "can"she really do this.

My book focuses on telling women how truly vital and necessary their contribution is to the work of the kingdom of God.

Writing it, I always saw it as sounding a trumpet call which called all women to their God given positions.

In complete honesty I will tell you that there is one negative in my book --- one line which I changed due to pressure from my editors and publisher and I no longer agree with (and absolutely HATE that it is in my book.)  A line where I was discussing the topic of  women not divorcing their husbands in order to be free to minister fully in God's call was changed to speak of "not throwing of the husband's headship".  I "caved" to the pressure and added the wording of "headship" because I was at this time still vacillating between "soft comp" and mutual submission in marriage.  I regret that "cave" more than my words can ever say!!!  As you know, from the amazon discussion forum I am very vocally and fully supportive of mutual submission in marriage.

Why did I write my book?  I wrote it in the desire to spare women the inner turmoil, distress, and confusion I went through as I found God's permission to follow His call on my life.  I wrote it in the desire to empower women to confidently take their God given positions and serve Him fully with their head's held high.

These desires still burn brightly within me - they compel me to write and take the "heat" and endure the "hateful words" thrown at me in discussion forums.  It is worth it all if one woman is set free to minister!!!

So sorry that you were pushed to give in to that one bit of wording.  :(

However, the book as a whole sounds awesome.  And very likely anyone reading it and following the advice to follow God not 'man' would eventually not 'cave in' to the fallacy of male headship.
"Man is a being capable of subduing his emotions and impulses; he can rationalize his behavior. He arranges his wishes into a scale, he chooses; in short, he acts. What distinguishes man from beasts is precisely that he adjusts his behavior deliberately." Ludwig von Mises

Thank you Dawn...

for sharing what motivated you to write, and for a fantastic summary of the work you did.  I also really appreciate your transparency re. the publishing pressure to alter your text.  Though I was offered an opportunity to publish with a "reputable Christian publishing company," I chose to self-publish.  One of the reasons for that was to maintain the freedom to share a message I felt I had been entrusted with, uncensored.  I must say though, that this decision had a hidden cost.  For many, it seems, having the name of a reputable publisher on your book is like a seal of approval.  Because the content of the book is controversial, and I do not have this approval, I feel that I often do not have the blessing of many of my colleagues.  Some have made dismissive comments about self-publishing.  Others greet me with awkward silence.

Either publishing path seems to have some pitfalls along it.  I pray that God will reach out to those who need this message of freedom, in spite of these pitfalls.  What you shared from the Lord truly seems wonderful.  May God bless you in your work sister.

Hi all, here's a video I made summarizing some of the main points of the seminar.  Please feel free to pass on the link to anyone looking for information on the origins of patriarchal traditions in the church.

I watched that earlier.  Thank you so very much for this.  We need all the help anyone can give in order to balance the men and women of God.  The people of God need to stop looking at each other so much and draw closer to God.  What was that that Jesus said, something about never mind what soandso is doing, but you do what I give you to do.  :)   Instead of trying to stop people from ministering by the Holy Spirit, we should concentrate on being used by God's Spirit ourselves.

Interesting thread. It's a shame so much of Christianity was influenced by Rome. I still see it in comps.

Bob E.,  would you like to post an excerpt from your book on our blog and advertise it as well as put a link to your video on it?    If so, IM me and I'll set you up as a contributor.
