Well, the site's down for now, with just a maintenance page up for viewing.  I, for one, like it better this way...

Maybe they forgot to set their domain name to reregister automatically? And some spam/domain nabbing service snapped it up as soon as it expired? I've seen it happen before. The second that domain goes up for grabs and it's had good traffic before, POOF! It's taken and used to put up a bunch of text link ads.

Doesn't appear that way; the domain name is registered through at least 12/16/12, according to GoDaddy's WhoIs search tools.  But, the maintenance page is still up...   :sherlock:

Their Twitter page doesn't have anything about it. It's not all that active.

It hurts me to look at it, and I'm not talking about ideological reasons. That bright aqua background, yikes. Hoping it turns people off from following.

I got hacked once.  Very unpleasant.  And some anti-viral programs were warning people of my site for almost two years after it got cleaned up.  I dare say that CBMW have willing experts helping them.

I have lots of links on my site to the CBMW site.  These links are now broken because the site has been gutted.  Today I went on their site to see how it is going and to see if I could repair some links.

None of the older articles have been reposted except for two articles criticizing the NIV 2011.  These articles even appear on a page dedicated to criticizing the NIV 2011.  I find this is a strange priority.  (I like the new NIV.)

On the plus side I'm getting quite a few extra visits from people searching for articles by Grudem and others.

I find it interesting to hear that talking down the NIV is such a priority. But it also seem very understandable to me.

As long as they can say: "The Bible say ..." and " ... those egals do not want to accept the plain meaning of the text!" their case is easy to make.
But when the Bible is translated in a way that does not prop up their case, then lay people can take the plain meaning - and not be convinced. I can see why this was a priority!
Jesus said: The Spirit of the Lord is upon me ... He hath sent me to proclaim release to the captives, And recovering of sight to the blind, To set at liberty them that are bruised... To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord. Luk 4:18-19

CBMW was involved with the ESV somehow.  So, it is important for them to knock down sales of NIV and promote sales for the ESV.  I haven't checked out the authors of comments in the ESV but they could be primarily comp/patri.

I have links to the people who worked on the ESV here: http://newlife.id.au/equality-and-gender-issues/the-esv-men-only-club/

There are lots of familiar names here.
