There are Christian psychologists.
My translation of Eph 5:21-22 ... mutually submitting in the fear of Messiah; wives (mutually submitting) to your husbands as to the Lord.

yes, and the combination of understanding human nature and responses, PLUS prayer can be powerful in helping Christians to heal from abuse, soul wounds in childhood and great losses.  A lot happens to people before they commit their lives to Christ that can be very damaging.  Thank God that He saw fit to equip some with the knowledge and insight to help Christians through their years of emotional and mental healing.
"Man is a being capable of subduing his emotions and impulses; he can rationalize his behavior. He arranges his wishes into a scale, he chooses; in short, he acts. What distinguishes man from beasts is precisely that he adjusts his behavior deliberately." Ludwig von Mises

I remember once watching a movie,  the little princess, in which the main character kept on seeing herself as  a princess, even in hard times. She once told a teacher (I think, but I can't really remember) "every girl is a princess, even if she isn't young... or pretty... or loved. Didn't your father teach you that?"

I'd want to see that again some time seeing if I still love it from my current world view.

My absolutely least favorite princess was always "the princess and the pea" I never found any value in that degree of over-sensitivity. Not as a little kid or now.
Jesus said: The Spirit of the Lord is upon me ... He hath sent me to proclaim release to the captives, And recovering of sight to the blind, To set at liberty them that are bruised... To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord. Luk 4:18-19

That movie was probably The Little Princess, based on the book by the same name by Frances Hogson Burnett (not sure if I'm spelling that right).   She also wrote The Secret Garden.  I highly recommend both books.  :)
The Bible was meant to point us to Jesus.  Too many times, Christians act like it's the other way around.

One of my favorite movies/books of all time...

Here's that scene:

I forgot the part where she says "didn't your father ever tell you that?"

My heavenly Father did! :)

This is the only version of "The Pincess and the Pea" that I can stomach.

Who is this who looks down like the dawn, as beautiful as the full moon, As pure as the sun, As awesome as an army with banners? Song 6:10
