Schools don't always do what they are supposed to do with the money given them.  And when they all do that, how are you going to stop them?  Take 100,000 school districts to court?

It's kind of like the bank bailout, not all the money went where it was intended to go.

JLP, this too shall pass.  The recession is not forever.  Teachers will be hired again.  As long as you keep your certifications current, you'll be able to be a teacher again.  :)

In the meantime, once you're resettled, can you tutor?  This economy seems to be requiring that a lot of people look at non-traditional ways of accomplishing their goals.
The Bible was meant to point us to Jesus.  Too many times, Christians act like it's the other way around.

Well, I will be living in Naperville.  It's an upper middle class neighborhood so they should still be able to afford tutoring.  I was going to start putting out ads for tutoring once I knew where I was going to live.

I've been to Naperville!  I have an aunt and uncle who used to live there when I was a kid!  :)

I don't know if you have any art skills - drawing in particular, but there is a program called Young Rembrandts based out of Elgin.  They send teachers to the park districts and daycare centers to teach the kids how to draw.  I knew someone that did that before they moved out of state.  It would be places in the Naperville area.

I can draw great stick figures (sort of).  Unfortunately I don't have any art skills.
