Synopsis: What does the Bible‚àû actually teach about women and their status as human beings, Christians, citizens, and wives? This is the question of egalitarianism‚àû versus complementarianism‚àû. The purpose of this document is to present an accurate summary of the egalitarian view. Please note that “egalitarian” means “of, relating to, or believing in the principle that all people are equal and deserve equal rights and opportunities”. It is not the promotion of female over male, nor of male over female. It is not about a struggle for supremacy, but about equality. Christian Egalitarianism, then, is not “radical feminism”, but only the belief that scripture shows male and female to be equal in salvation, in gifting, in service, and in access to God.
