1 Peter 3:7 (NASB) You husbands in the same way, live with your wives in an understanding* way, as with someone weaker, since she is a woman; and show her honor as a fellow heir of the grace of life, so that your prayers will not be hindered*.

1 Peter3:7(KJV) Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with [them] according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.
In the OT, the word translated “know” between a husband and wife is used of physical union as in “Adam knew his wife and she conceived” Gen 4:1. But the physical union is a picture- in flesh- of a much much deeper TRUTH. Getting inside one’s wife involves MORE than just the physical! To live with her “according to knowledge” a husband is responsible to get inside her MIND not just her bodyl! He needs to make every effort to understand what it feels like to live inside his wife’s skin; to be able to see the world through her eyes; to deeply comprehend her perspective.

So, whenever you hear things implying that “wives are IMPOSSIBLE to understand”, DON’T BELIEVE IT! THE CONSEQUENCES WILL BE DIRE! The Greek word for “hindered” (click link) means “to cut out, cut off”

I noticed that the verse begins with “You husbands in the same way…” While verse 1 begins “You wives in the same way...” Seems to me that “in the same way…” refers back up to Jesus as the role model for BOTH husband and wife:
21For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:
22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:
23 Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:
…
1 ¶ Likewise, ye wives, …
7 Likewise, ye husbands, …
8 ¶ Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:
9 Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called , that ye should inherit a blessing
10 For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:
11 Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it.

To “live with your wife in an understanding manner” is a tall order. But it can be done with GOD’s grace and strength. If Ken Nair can do it, any Christian man can do it. When I read Ken Nair’s book was the first time I realized that a Christian man exists who really understands what it feels like to live inside a woman’s skin. May his tribe increase

¬†I heard this Don Francisco song the other day Who wears the pants? As I see it, the adult dad in the song has chosen NOT to “live with his wife in an understanding manner” (1 Pet 3:7) and the adult son chooses to forsake “the empty way of life handed down to [him] from [his] forefathers” (1 Pet 1:18) and follow his Heavenly Father”s model instead of his earthly father’s model. The adult son lives with his wife in an understanding manner.

What do you think …. ¬†:)
